Andre Pjer

Pierre André (Haiti)

1914-2005

Andre Pjer - Deity (Linglinsou, Bassin-sang)       He was born in Port-au-Prince in 1914. He began doing painting in nineteen forties. He most often painted objects or plant barks with predominant massive human figure, ornamented with decorative details, which point to elements of traditional, folk art and practice of decorating objects for everyday use. Simplicity of vision, instinctive sense of rhythm and colouring reveal the strength of the unconscious.
