Morar Vojkan (Serbia)
He was born in Pančevo in 1966. He began doing painting in 1986. He
resides in Pančevo, Serbia. With meticulous technique he conjures up
the parallel world of angels and the world beyond. Using the vision
of phantasy he persistently and psychedelically multiplies figures,
immersing them in tint. They often jump from the surface of the
canvass as if in an explosion, thus showing the artist’s need for an
additional dimension, hence he frequently does sculptures in clay.
The power of his forms is suggestive in both clay and canvas. The
obsessive dance of thousands of angels, expressed plastically,
meticulously and very intensively creates a unique atmosphere of
phantasmagoria. With the tautology of figures, as a real outsider,
the artist marks the harmony of his inner micro cosmos. Yellow is
predominant in his canvases in which either the clusters of angels
float or samples of monumental and fantastic architecture emerge.
Permanent search for new sources of the same motif points to the
artist’s persistency and obsession with exploration of own visions
as basic models of his intention. His aspiration towards the depths
of the world beyond is an everlasting secret for him. It is
something that artistically intrigues him.
His most prominent participations were in Triennials and Biennials in Bratislava and Jagodina where he received "Grand Prix for the Exhibited Works" at the Fourteenth Biennial in 2009.
